A Wall of Gratitude

Tomorrow is our next retreat and one of the things I'm most excited about is the event we're doing at the end of the day. Every once and awhile, the team gets brainstorming and we just get on a roll. We decided that as our last activity, we'd ask everyone to think about the things in their lives that they are most grateful for. This might be family, friends, accomplishments, hardships, difficulties each person has overcome. It might be people who taught us hard lessons, our first love, a pet, or maybe even that time our computer didn't save our final right before the power failed. If we look hard enough, we can see things to be grateful for throughout our lives.

We're going to hand every participant a stack of post-it notes and ask that they start writing down every single thing that they can come up with that they are grateful for. I'm imagining a huge stream of consciousness dumped onto the happy little yellow notes. Fast and furious or slow and pensive, I can't wait to see people writing down what brings them joy.

And, as the retreat-goers get these thoughts on paper, we are then going to ask that each and every person put all of those post its on the wall. And then, when the writing has slowed, we can all stand back and just gaze on all those wonderful things that we each have cherished in our lives.

So, please join us! Comment and let me know a few of the things you're grateful for in your life.

Such a great idea for the retreat!

I'm grateful to have such great parents and to be able to say w/o doubt that my mom is my best friend (even though when I was a teenager I would have laughed really hard if ever saying this in the future). :)
